Class of 2011 Waycross was on hand to videotape six graduation ceremonies this year - three of which were on the same night! Kudos to the staff and volunteers who made all this possible. 2011 graduations covered were from Winton Woods, Finneytown, St. Xavier, Mt. Healthy, Northwest and Colerain High Schools. These ceremonies can be seen on Time Warner Cable, channel 4, and on demand through our website. For playback times and a link to each graduation, visit our graduations page at www.waycross.tv/graduations . Congratulations to all our graduates!
Community Access Preservation Act A bill has been introduced in Congress that would help preserve funding for community media centers across the country. The bill, jointly introduced by Reps. Steve LaTourette (R-OH) and Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) is H.R. 1746, the Community Access Preservation (CAP) Act. The legislation, if adopted, would restore PEG funding eliminated by Ohio's 2007 state franchising law, allow PEG funding to be used for operating expenses, require that cable operators transmit the PEG channels without charge to the media center. prevent operators from discriminating against PEG channels, and make it clear that any entity that provides video services via facilities in the rights of way is subject to the Cable Act's franchising requirements. We have been working with Rep. Chabot's office to become a co-sponsor. Please take a moment to e-mail him through his website https://chabot.house.gov/contact-me/email-me with a simple message: "I am writing today to ask that you co-sponsor and support HR 1746, the Community Access Preservation Act" Thank You for your support! SUMMER CAMP This year, Waycross will be partnering with two local YMCA's to provide an enrichment program for their Teen Summer Camps. Waycross staff will travel to the Powel Crosley YMCA in Springfield Township and the Clippard Family YMCA in Colerain Township to work with campers one afternoon each week. Campers will learn how to use a camcorder, how to edit, and how to complete a program. We are excited to be working with our local youth through the YMCA. For more information on how you can sign up for camp at the "Y", visit the websites for the Powel Crosley or Clippard Family YMCA's. Have a Question for U.S. Representative Steve Chabot will be joining us on June 20 for our "Waycross on Washington" program. If you have a question you would like Jason to ask, simply e-mail it to jason@waycross.org.
