GUTTER BALL RALLY BOWL-A-THON

Join us for the first annual Waycross Community Media Bowl-athon....Gutter Ball Rally. The event will be held on April 25th from 1 to 3 PM at Brentwood Bowl in Finneytown. Help support Waycross - everyone who registers and raises at least $20 in donations for Waycross will bowl for two hours FREE! (OK, shoes cost $1).

WAYCROSS SUMMER VIDEO CAMP

Waycross Community Media (Heather & Nicky) will once again host summer camps for area youth in grades 3 through 12. Campers will learn all about video production - Field Production, Editing, and Studio Production, and will produce several videos that will be shown on local cable TV.

Summer camp for kids in grades 6 –12 will be held Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 9 AM – 4:30 PM, from June 15 to August 12th, with no camp the week of July 4th. Early arrival (7:30 – 9 AM) and late departure (4:30 – 6 PM) is available for an extra charge.

Junior Summer Camp for kids in grades 3-6 will be held on Friday’s, 9 AM- 1 PM, from June 11 – August 13, with no camp on July 9.

The themes for each week are:

Week of June 15 - Intro to video week
Week of June 22 - Animal care week
Week of June 29 Community week - Field trips to Paul Brown Stadium, Channel 5, Great American Ballpark.
Week of July 6 (No Camp)
Week of July 13 Art week
Week of July 20 - Photography week
Week of July 27 - Fitness week - Field trips to the Pleasant Run Pool, a Yoga studio, and Fitworks.
Week of August 3 - Cooking week
Week of August 10 Closing/editing/final studio show

Cost for campers in grades 6-12 is just $250 for residents of Greenhills, Forest Park, and Springfield Township and $300 for non-residents ($150.00 for each additional child from the same family).

Cost for campers in grades 3-6 is just $100 for residents, $150 for non-residents ($75 for each additional child from the same family).

Volunteer Spotlight -

LARRY MERKEL

Larry Merkel has been a St. X Basketball Announcer with Waycross since 1994. He serves both as a Play-by-Play and Color commentator.

Married with two daughters he is now a Grandfather, World Traveler, and former Head Coach of the St. X Cross Country team for 27 years. He has won recognition over the years - as Ohio Coach of the year in 2000, several times as Cincinnati Coach of the year, and is being inducted into the St. X. Hall of Fame on April 13th this year.

He is a faithful Waycross Volunteer and enjoys watching basketball and listening for tips from professional announcers.

Larry currently teaches English at St. X and continues to help coach Cross Country.

Larry says "Everyone connected with Waycross; Volunteers, and Staff, young and old have been gracious and encouraging."

"Waycross offers young people a future by opening Career Opportunities they may not have even thought about."
