NATIONAL RECOGNITION

The Waycross Community Media Volunteers have earned the 2006 Hometown Video Award for Sports Coverage - Non Professional. This entry was "OHSAA Regional Semi-Final Basketball: Troy vs St. Xavier". This is the 6th year in a row and for 7 of the last 8 years that the Waycross Volunteers have earned the top national award in this category.

The Hometown Video Awards committee received nearly 1400 entries this year so the Waycross Volunteers can be very proud of this accomplishment. Long-time volunteer Hugh Staples joined Executive Director Chip Bergquist & his son Alex in accepting the award at ceremonies held on July 6th in the historic Faneuil Hall in Boston, MA.

  • Election Coverage 2005 by Citicable, Waycross & ICRC in Election Coverage, Live Program, and Political Awareness, all Pro.
  • Colerain vs. St. Xavier Regional Final Football by the Waycross Volunteers in Sports Event, Non Pro.
  • OHSAA District Final Basketball - Northmont vs. Princeton by the Waycross Volunteers and Princeton HS Students in Sports Event, Student.
  • and PEG Access Compilation by the Waycross Staff, Producers and Volunteers.

Live Program, Non-Pro Concert on the Commons featuring the Star Devils and School Video Magazine, Student Warrior Forum - Hamilton County Parks Department were also recognized as finalists. These awards will be given out in ceremonies during the Central States Regional Conference in East Lansing, MI on November 17, 2006.
